Role of Governors
What do governors do?
Governors work as a team. They are responsible for making sure the school provides a good quality education for all our pupils. They do this together with the head teacher, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.
The Governing Body provides strategic leadership and accountability in schools. It has three key functions:
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Ensuring accountability for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the work and improvement of the school
