Fedrated Governing board
From 1st September 2024 Belmont Infant and Junior schools formally federated. This means that the two schools are now governed by one shared governing body.
A message from the new Joint Chairs:
"As governors we are extremely proud of Belmont Infant and Junior Schools and the diverse, supportive and nurturing community that makes these so schools a wonderful place to start your child’s formal education. The decision to federate our schools was made with careful consideration and a shared vision of enhancing the educational journey for all our children. By working together, we can pool our resources, share best practices and ensure a seamless transition for children as they progress from the Infant to the Junior School. This collaboration will allow us to build on the strengths of both schools, creating a cohesive and supportive environment where every child can continue to thrive, and all staff are able to make the most of increased opportunities to learn and grow professionally."
Governors play an important role in setting the strategic direction of the school along with the Headteacher and senior leadership team. Governors do not manage schools, but we do oversee the development of the school and aim to support the school to provide a high standard of education for all pupils. Governors set the aims and objectives for the school and set the policies and targets for achieving those aims and objectives. They monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making and act as a source of challenge and support to the headteacher. As the accountable body for the school, the governing body has three key functions:
* Oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
* Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
* Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
The Governors have a variety of skills and backgrounds that provide the school with a wide range of expertise and support. We are a mixture of parents, school staff, co-opted governors and local authority representatives.
The full Governing Body meets once a month. We focus on Finance, Buildings & Personnel, Teaching & Learning, Pupils & Community and we have link governors for Safeguarding Special Educational Needs (SEN), Maths, English, Health & Safety and Racial Equity.
As a governing body we are committed to providing the best education and school experience for every child at Belmont Infant & Junior Schools.
